SUMMIT CARDIOLOGIST CELEBRATES HEART MONTH WITH A FREE BREAKFAST SEMINAR
HERMITAGE, Tenn., February 5, 2010 Summit Medical Center is celebrating heart month by offering a free educational breakfast seminar on heart wellness. Dr. Kathleen Kearney, cardiologist with Centennial Heart at Summit, will present Cardiology 101 on Tuesday, February 16 at 9 a.m. at Summit Medical Center in the classrooms on the ground floor of the hospital.
Dr. Kearney says prevention is the key to heart health. "You can decrease your risk of having a heart attack by eating a diet low in saturated fats, eating plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly and quitting smoking," says Dr. Kearney. Other ways to aid in prevention are to control your blood and cholesterol levels and to minimize stress. Take charge of your heart health by learning more and talking with your doctor about your risks and ways to prevent or manage heart disease.
Dr. Kearney received her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Cardiology from the University of Kentucky. She is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
